See 80 participants this year collaborating on bringing dance experience to the stage and standing up for causes.
Dedication dance this year will be for victims of domestic abuse and a portion of proceeds will go to local Guardian Angel Home.
Another impactful piece will be recreating a selection of Alvin Ailey’s Revelations. Dance students were able to attend a fieldltrip last month to see Alvin Ailey Dance Theater in Chicago, and they used this as inspiration for their own performances. This piece shows how our students work through their differences to stand as one. It is a dance full of emotion, from oppression to hope.
The theme this year is “JuxtaPosed” and will pair many opposites side by side including good versus evil, and young versus old.
Students will also be performing throughout the school day on Wednesday, April 25th for the student body. The community is invited to attend Friday’s performance.
One unique feature of this year’s show is the amount of collaboration and cross-curricular involvement we’ve had. The Commerical Music Design class created all of the music edits, Life Skills classes helped develop the theme, the Link Crew class made posters, and National Honor Society is organizing efforts with our benefit organization.
As numbers for these programs have decreased in recent years, this is possibly the last stage production Mrs. Taylor will produce. Let’s make this year special by having a huge turnout!
